Thread Cutting Screws
Thread cutting screws are considered self-tapping screws and are designed to be inserted into an existing hole. When applied, thread cutting screws create a thread in the material they are applied to, which is generally metal, wood, or plastic. MW Components' thread cutting screws offer greater holing power, reduced hoop stress, and fewer burst bosses.
Our trilobular thread forming screws were developed specifically for use in plastic. These fasteners roll-form precise threads, without chips, in a variety of thermoplastics and certain thermosetting compounds.
Thread cutting screws come in many head and body variations and can be created in several different sizes as required for the application. There are also many types of thread cutting screw shafts, some of which include, Type-1, Type-23, Type-25, and Type-F. These “types” refer to the end-point configurations of the screw shaft and have different application purposes.
