Set screws, also called blind screws or grub screws, are generally used without a nut to secure surfaces within or to other components to prevent motion of mechanical moving parts. They are commonly used to connect a gear or pulley to a shaft.

Set Screws Manufacturing
Set screws, sometimes referred to as dog-point or grub screws, can be manufactured with a variety of materials, finishes, end-configurations, and dimensions. We offer products in both standard dimensions and tolerances as well as entirely custom components for multiple applications and end-uses.
Characteristics
Set screws have a unique shape characterized by the lack of a screw head and thick external threading designed for use without a pairing nut. Unlike standard screws, they are meant to be inserted into a previously drilled hole or socket. Set screws are preferred for applications where a traditional screw and nut combination might impede the necessary movement of adjoining objects.
