Cold coiled springs are produced using fully heat-treated metal material that is stress-relieved to improve performance under pressure. Cold wound springs can be created with various end-configurations and styles, from extension and compression springs to torsion springs and others.
MW Industries facilities generally cold coil springs made from Chrome Silicon or oil tempered wire materials with spring diameters up to .75"; however, non-standard sizes and specialty materials like Stainless Steel and Inconel are available for custom projects.

Cold Wound Springs Overview
Unlike hot wound springs which are heated to approximately 1700 degrees to increase pliability and then formed into the desired shape, cold coiled springs are generally produced using metal that was heat-treated prior to coiling, wound cold, and then stress-relieved through additional processes. Other materials may be heat-treated after cold coiling, some examples being Stainless Steel and Inconel.
Cold coiled springs are used more often in smaller applications where coiling wire or bar stock is less difficult; however, MW specializes in producing larger diameter cold coiled springs up to and including .750" (18.75mm).
Our cold wound springs are produced in a variety of configurations including compression, extension, and torsion, among others. They are found in multiple applications and industries from agriculture, mining, and defense, to valves and actuators.
Custom Cold Wound Springs
MW Industries specializes in custom manufacturing, offering design assistance, prototyping, and tooling, with optional industry-specific quality certifications and fast shipping. We even offer specialized packing, inventory management, and other value-added services, which add to your convenience and ensure efficiency in production, packing, and fulfillment—giving you time to do what really matters.

Cold Wound Spring Manufacturing
Our cold wound springs are produced using the highest quality materials in the wire or bar diameter that you require. They are generally produced using high tensile strength Chrome Silicon which, allows for maximum travel; however, we also have access to specialty materials for more custom applications.
Our facilities offer state-of-the-art CNC machining processes and in-house powder coating with multiple colors and finish options for your convenience, as well as optional part code printing for ease of identification and assembly. We offer all this with fast shipping and a selection of optional industry-specific applicable certifications which ensure exceptional quality and performance expectations.
Our hot wound springs can be manufactured with a selection of commonly requested services.
