Laser Cutting
Laser cutting is often used in industrial manufacturing and is accomplished by focusing a high-powered laser (typically through optics and CNC machining) to cut through difficult materials.
Advantages
Laser cutting in manufacturing ensures speed, flexibility, efficiency, and increased accuracy. The laser cutting process is efficient because it allows us to quickly switch between parts with very little lag time between the production of each component. Our L1 machine allows us to load blanks, cuts complicated shapes, and produces completed products all within a process that is completely automated. Some of its benefits include high versatility, reduced downtime, and material waste, reduced cost, and high production possibilities.
Why Use Laser Cutting?
While the laser cutting process does have a few limitations; including, limited metal thicknesses, and higher upfront costs, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. This cutting process creates extreme accuracy, flexibility in design, increased production speed, and repeatability—producing parts that are almost exact replicas of one another (within +/- 0.05 mm). And while the process requires a specialist for setup operation, it is one of the few that is fully automatable after initial setup.
