Rapid Prototyping - Coiled Springs & Wire Forms

Rapid prototyping is the process of quickly creating a prototype, many times with a combination of 3D printing and coordinating software. MW Components offers rapid prototyping for select components, including springs and wire forms in as little as one week.

The key advantage of rapid prototyping is saving time. Prototyping allows you to get a preview of part functionality within a given application or environment and rapid prototyping allows you to do so on an expedited timeline. Standard prototypes can take up to 6 weeks to produce. Custom components produced through rapid prototyping can be ready for shipping in one to three weeks, giving you more time for testing and evaluation before planning a large production run.

Why Choose MW Components for Rapid Prototyping?

MW Components' Schiller Park location offers a rapid prototyping service specially designed for engineers looking for a rapid evaluation of design samples. Prototypes of compression, extension, torsion springs, and wire forms typically ship in 1-2 weeks (0.020’ -0.080” wire diameter) or 3-4 weeks (0.080” – 0.157” wire diameter) for a range of carbon and stainless steel materials. This rapid prototyping program allows engineers to quickly determine if a coiled spring or wire form meets the intended performance criteria before placing larger orders.Rapid prototyping services have been helpful for MW Components' customers in a variety of unique situations, from customers looking for parts made from alternative materials due to long material delays to customers who've needed to prove a concept within a short period to secure an order for their business.
