Small company. Big capabilities.
MidWest Components began as a partnership in Wisconsin 1987. The company relocated to north-central
Washington State in 1996. Our partners brought to the company extensive experience in electronics
manufacturing and component engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, application engineering and
distribution sales.
MidWest Components' goal has always been to remain small in size but to grow our sales through repeat
business based on service to our customers and improvements in our productivity. Our first customers are
still our major customers.
We specialize in finding electronic components for our customers, whether allocated parts,
obsolete ICs, or otherwise hard to find electronic components.
We were early adopters of computer technology and online data exchange as well as a founding member of
our industry trade group. We took our first international order via the internet in 1995 and now have
access to multiple component databases, giving us a nearly real time view of worldwide component availability.
During the 1990s, MidWest Components' partners operated a sister company that provided procurement
services to American and European companies establishing operations in China. That experience
developed our expertise in importing and exporting electronic products. MidWest Components was also
able to anticipate the problems with quality and genuineness of product purchased in China and Asia.
We early on established relationships with Chinese distributors to provide pre-inspection of parts
purchased by us in China and to investigate potential suppliers for us. Unlike many brokers (and their
customers), we have had very few problems with counterfeit or poor quality product from China.
Our background in manufacturing and quality control allows us to understand buyers' requirements
regarding component specifications and approved suppliers, component grades and package types, and proper
handling and shipping procedures. Additionally, our technical knowledge allows us to locate and recommend
alternate parts when feasible, which is often important in securing product, reducing costs or extending the
life of a design. Through third parties we can provide testing, screening or repacking service (for example
tubes to tape and reel).
